This Cookie Notice explains how Pie Group Holdings, Inc., and its property and casualty insurance carrier and agency subsidiaries (collectively, “Pie Insurance,” “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies on pieinsurance.com, our quoting tools, customer portals, and other digital properties (collectively, the "Sites"), and the choices available to you. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which describes more generally how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal and business information. Certain information we collect in connection with insurance products and services is subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and state insurance information privacy laws; where those laws apply, they govern that information. Terms defined in the Privacy Policy have the same meaning here. If this Notice and the Privacy Policy conflict with respect to cookies and similar technologies, this Notice controls. Our cookie preference tool presents accept-all and decline-all options with equal prominence.
A cookie is a small text file that a website or its service provider places on your device through your browser, which allows the site's systems to recognize your browser and remember certain information. We also use technologies that function similarly, including web beacons (also called clear GIFs, pixel tags, or single-pixel GIFs) embedded in web pages and emails, which allow us to count visitors or recipients who opened a message and to compile related statistics; local storage, which stores information in your browser or device rather than in a cookie; and software development kits and similar tools in any mobile or embedded experiences we offer. In this Notice, "cookies" refers to all of these technologies unless we say otherwise.
Essential cookies. These are required to operate the Sites and deliver services you request. They support core functions such as page navigation, session management, load balancing, form submission, fraud prevention, analytics and performance, and the security of your account and our systems. Because the Sites cannot function properly without them, these cookies are set without your consent and cannot be disabled through our preference tool, although you may block them through your browser settings.
Functional and preference cookies. These remember choices you make — such as language, saved quote progress, or previously entered business information — so that you do not have to re-enter them. Disabling them may mean features do not work as expected, including the ability to resume a partially completed quote.
Analytics and performance cookies. These help us understand how visitors use the Sites — which pages are visited, which referring sources bring visitors to us, how long visitors stay, where they encounter difficulty — so that we can measure and improve site performance, the quoting experience, and customer service.
Marketing cookies. These help us and our advertising partners measure the effectiveness of our advertising, limit how often you see the same advertisement, and deliver advertising for our products that may be more relevant to your business. They may record your visits to the Sites, the pages you view, and the links you follow, and may be used to build a profile of your interests.
Cookies are either session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which remain on your device until they expire or you delete them. The current inventory of cookies we set, including each cookie's name, category, purpose, provider, and duration, is available in our cookie preference tool on the Sites.
Some cookies on the Sites are set by third parties acting on our behalf, and those parties may receive information about your interactions with the Sites. We currently use first-party cookies (including Google Analytics cookies) and third-party cookies and identifiers, together with vendors such as Google, to compile data about user interactions with advertising impressions and other advertising services relating to the Sites. As part of overall performance and effectiveness monitoring, we use Google Analytics and the Enhanced Conversions tool from Google Ads Solutions to understand customer activity and evaluate the effectiveness of the Sites. Information about Google Ads' privacy practices is available at https://business.google.com/us/privacy/. Third-party cookies are governed by the privacy notices of the parties that set them, and we do not control their practices. The current list of third-party cookie providers is maintained in our cookie preference tool.
Cookie preference tool. You may accept or decline non-essential cookie categories, and change your choices at any time, using the cookie preference tool available on the Sites. Your choices apply to the browser and device you use to make them, so you will need to set your preferences separately on each browser and device.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. You may opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising by using the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer of our Sites, by using the cookie preference tool, by transmitting an opt-out preference signal as described in Section 7, or by contacting us using the details in Section 10. You may also designate an authorized agent to submit an opt-out request on your behalf, and we will honor a request from an agent who provides proof of your written authorization. We will not require you to create an account or verify your identity in order to opt out.
Browser controls. Most browsers allow you to be warned each time a cookie is being sent, to block cookies from particular sites, or to block all cookies. Because each browser is different, consult your browser's help menu for instructions. If you block or delete cookies, some features that make the Sites more efficient may not function properly, including the ability to obtain an online quote, and your preference settings may be lost.
Analytics opt-out. You may opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on made available by Google.
Marketing communications. Cookie choices are separate from your email, text message, and telephone marketing preferences. To manage those, use the instructions in the Privacy Policy sections addressing text messaging and marketing communications, or contact us using the details in Section 10 of this Notice.
Where required by applicable law, we set non-essential cookies only after you have consented through our cookie preference tool or another mechanism we make available, and we do not treat continued browsing alone as consent for those categories. You may withdraw your consent at any time through the cookie preference tool, by a method at least as easy as the method used to give it, and withdrawal takes effect prospectively. If you opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or of targeted advertising, we will honor that choice for at least twelve months before asking you to reconsider it, and we will not use deceptive design to obtain, discourage, or reverse your choice. Where applicable law requires opt-in consent before processing sensitive data for advertising or profiling purposes, we obtain that consent as described in the state-specific provisions section of our Privacy Policy. Separately, where the law gives you the right to limit the use and disclosure of your sensitive personal information — which can include precise geolocation collected through cookies or mobile software development kits — you may exercise that right through our cookie preference tool or by contacting us using the details in Section 10.
Do Not Track. Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting that transmits a signal to the websites you visit. There is no common industry or legal standard governing how operators must recognize or respond to Do Not Track signals, and we do not currently respond to them. We do honor the Global Privacy Control as described below.
We treat a Global Privacy Control or other opt-out preference signal recognized under applicable state law, including any universal opt-out mechanism appearing on the list maintained by the appropriate authorities, as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeting advertising for the browser or device transmitting it and, where you are signed in to an account with us, for the consumer associated with that account, in every state where the signal is recognized under applicable law.
Cookies may collect your IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, pages visited, referring URLs, time stamps, click behavior, and similar usage information. We use that information for the purposes described in this Notice and in our Privacy Policy, including to operate and secure the Sites, support quoting and account management, analyze and improve our products and services, prevent fraud, and measure and deliver advertising. We do not use information collected through cookies to make or support underwriting, eligibility, or pricing decisions about you or your business. We share it with the service providers and advertising partners that help us perform these functions, under contracts that restrict their use of the information, and as otherwise described in the Privacy Policy section addressing how we share information. We do not use cookies to collect or infer consumer health data, and we do not sell consumer health data. Where information we collect qualifies as consumer health data under Nevada's consumer health data law, or a similar law, we handle it under the separate consumer health data disclosures in our Privacy Policy and obtain any consent or authorization those laws require. We do not sell personal information in exchange for money. However, our use of advertising and targeting cookies involves disclosing personal information to advertising partners in ways that may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" for purposes of cross-context behavioral advertising under California law, and "targeted advertising" under the privacy laws of other states. Where applicable state law gives you the right to opt out of targeted advertising, of the sale or sharing of personal information, or of profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects, you may exercise it through our cookie preference tool, by transmitting an opt-out preference signal, or by contacting us as described below.
Cookies remain on your device only for the duration disclosed in our cookie preference tool, and information collected through cookies is retained in accordance with the Data Retention section of our Privacy Policy, which sets out the retention period, or the criteria we use to determine the retention period, for each category of personal information we collect. The Sites are intended for businesses and are not directed to individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly use cookies to collect personal information from children. We do not knowingly sell or share, or use for targeted advertising, the personal information of a consumer we know to be under 18 years of age without the affirmative authorization applicable law requires, and we do not knowingly process the personal data of a known minor for targeted advertising or profiling. We may update this Notice from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use or in applicable law; the "Last Updated" date above indicates when it was last revised, and changes are effective immediately upon posting to the Sites.
